A put-to-light system is a paperless selecting technology in which individual products are delivered by conveyor and placed into fixed order locations. In put-to-light, the product is brought to the order.

Operators scan a product delivered by a conveyor and LED displays at each location indicate how many of the product to place in the containers at the locations. The lights make it clear how many of each item to place in each container for each order.

Because fewer lights are needed, a put-to-light system can be an economical alternative to the more robust pick-to-light systems large distribution centers need. And the system is easy to learn, so training costs are low.
